Audio Cassette Tapes Make a Strong Comeback Among Collectors

With sales of vinyl records soaring to levels not seen over the last two decades, it was only a matter of time for audio tapes to make a resurgence.

According to a Sunday article published by the Philadelphia Inquirer, sales of cassettes surged by more than 30% last year, and they are poised to continue growing thanks to Millennial Generation music fans who are pushing artists into releasing new records on this antique format.

Phoebe Bridgers is one such artist who has obliged, and her 2020 “Punisher” album can be currently purchased on tape for $10, which is less than half of what her vinyl record costs.
